Yuma Border Patrol agents seize marijuana dropped by Ultra-light aircraft

YUMA COUNTY, AZ.- U.S. Border Patrol agents seize nine bundles of marijuana dropped by an ultra-light aircraft (ULA) from Mexico.
On Saturday night, Yuma Sector Border Patrol was notified by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Air and Marine Operations Center in Riverside, California that a ULA was circling an area near Somerton.
Border Patrol says agents arrived shortly after midnight and discovered five bundles and a ULA ”drop cage” just outside Somerton.
They say three more bundles were found nearby beneath a tree and another bundle was close by.
The marijuana weighed 208.7 pounds and is valued at $484,880.
It was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for processing.
