Woman Hospitalized after Attempting to Cross Border Illegally

EL PASO – One woman is fighting for her life this morning after she and a group of people attempted to cross the border into El Paso illegally in the Lower Valley, according to police.

The woman, who is in critical condition received CPR in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

The woman struggled to cross because of the strong currents in the Rio Grande.

Police will not confirm how many people she was with, but they do say all others were not hurt and have been detained.

Rescue crews, U.S. Border Patrol and El Paso Police were all on the scene before 6 a.m. when the incident occurred.
