Federal Agents Seize Airplane Tied To Gulf Cartel

BROWNSVILLE – Federal prosecutors have seized a $2,500,000 plane they say belonged to the former governor of Tamaulipas. Federal court documents say the Gulf Cartel paid millions of dollars in bribes to former governor Tomas Jesus Yarrington-Ruvalcaba.

Homeland Security investigators say the cartel created a series of front companies to transfer assets into the United States. The plane was seized in Brownsville and taken to a government storage facility in Florida.

Lawyers for Yarrington-Rubalcaba says the plane does not belong to him and denies all claims in the complaint.
