Border weapons trial underway

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – Jury selection is underway for the Deming family accused of helping smuggle guns to Mexico.
Rick and Terri Reese and their sons Ryin and Remington are accused of conspiring to sell dozens of firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition to what they thought were straw purchasers for the Mexican drug cartel.
But the buyers were really undercover federal agents.
The Reeses owned a gun shop in Deming, the Luna County seat about 35 miles from the Mexican border.
The Reeses deny the allegations.
The trial in U.S. District Court in Las Cruces is expected to last two to three weeks.
