July 30th 2012 · 1 Comment
The Zetas are the organized crime group that performs the majority of kidnappings against businessmen and merchants nationwide. This is the cartels way to get back some resources that have been struck a blow by the work of the Federal Police (PF).
This illegal activity is carried out independently of the kidnappings of migrants and “levantotes” and against opposing cartel members.
Benito Armando Espinosa, head of the Research Division of the PF, also identified the Gulf cartel and La Familia Michoacana, as being additional major groups involved in this crime.
The official said the modus operandi of criminal groups is similar to a company in which each member, in which there are women and children, plays a specific role. While for every kidnapping operation it requires an average of six to eight individuals.
