SIERRA VISTA, AZ – Authorities say a wildfire is burning along the Arizona-Mexico border about 20 miles southwest of Sierra Vista and has charred about 1,200 acres so far.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office says the so-called “School Canyon Fire” was reported Tuesday morning in the Montezuma Pass area.
It’s still unclear how the fire started.
The fire is burning grass and brush in the Coronado National Forest and is moving north toward the Parker Canyon Lake area.
Sheriff’s officials are evacuating Lakeview campground at Parker Canyon Lake, but say no structures are immediately threatened.
Six air tankers, two helicopters, four water tankers, 12 engines and two 20-person crews have been assigned to the fire so far.

Hate the fire–but for goodness sake quit saying “so-called” unless someone is an imposter!!! the fire has been named the School Canyon Fire…..

Oh geez, more global warming.

Hmm, maybe coyotes started the fire to distract the border patrol.

Joy Wright, I thought the same thing when I read it…a fire is a fire and has a name! Having been in the Durango, Co fires, just say what the heck it is named.

While you’re in there putting the fire out, go ahead and bury all the illegal’s you find. South Arizona is one place I would not plan to go camping until the border’s are secure. Even then I would be packing.
