Authorities say they have managed to neutralize the organization, because its top leaders are no longer in Acapulco
MEXICO CITY, Feb. 11. - The arrest of eight members of the criminal group The Sweeper led to the arrest of Jonathan Martinez de los Santos, aka “The Jona,” said the deputy head of the operational structure of the organization.
The Jona, according to intelligence reports, ordered the murder of the secretary of the Judicial Power of agreements Guerrero, Jose Guadalupe Flores Aquinas, and Professor Maria Viruel Andraca, besides giving messages related to the organizations People Next Generation, and El Chapo Guzman.
The criminal group of The Sweeper maintains an alliance with the Sinaloa cartel, began operations in 2011 after the separation of one of its leaders who commanded the Independent cartel of Acapulco, which led to a rivalry between the two groups.
According to the head of the Regional Security Division, Luis Cárdenas Palomino, the operational structure of the sweeper and was dismantled, because the main leaders of this organization and not in Acapulco.
He said the leaders of The Sweeper have changed their places of operation and refuge in the State of Mexico and others due to operating in Guerrero is done by federal authorities.
Arresting The Jona was the result of interrogation of eight members of the sweeper who were arrested and identified as murderers, kidnappers and extortionists in the service of that criminal group.
Those arrested were Jose Antonio Vargas Gonzalez, 30, arrested on January 3, 2012, in the state of Morelos. This person allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Professor Maria Ninfa Viruel Andraca, which occurred in January in Acapulco, Guerrero, whose lifeless body was found Jan. 2 in a vehicle near the area known as The Hopper.
Olea Ramiro Ortega, aka The Creeper , 19, who was insured in the company of two 17 year olds on January 28, 2012, Colonia Emiliano Zapata. At the time of his arrest these people had a dismembered body inside a vehicle and nine cards with messages alluding to New Generation of People Chapo, Command of the Devil
